Many statues of Tibierius Claudius Kalobrotos and his descendants were set up in the city hall (bouleuterion) of Teos. This privilege shows the dominant role of the family in Teos. The present statue base found during the excavations of 1963 was erected by Kalobrotos’ son Phesinos who acted as arch priest of Asia in 89/90 AD. Another base found in the bouleuterion during the excavations of 2012 was erected by the troop of gladiators (familia) for Kalobrotos who hired the fighters for shows maybe during his function as high priest of the emperors. Kalobrotos or his father was rewarded with the Roman citizenship propably by emperor Claudius. His natural son Phesinos was appointed as arch priest of Asia in 89/90 AD. Kalobrotos also adopted Zenodotos who was the natural brother of the well-known Tiberius Claudius Philistes.
