From this inscription found in the western parodos of the theater we learn that the benefactions of Tiberius Claudius Philistes were not only limited to his native city of Teos. Philistes also supported the council of the elders (gerousia) of Klazomenai, a coastal city in the north of Teos. As a pressure group the gerusia played an important political role in the cities.
The holy organization of the elders of Klazomenai honored Tiberius Claudius Philistes son of Masimachos and of the People, the natural son of Hermothestos, from the Cyreina tribe, his benefactor to show their gratitude. (His statue was erected) under the supervision of Titus Flavius Timotheos.
